Biomay Offers GMP Allergens off the Shelf (Feb. 11 2009)

Biomay announced to offer GMP-grade allergens as active pharmaceutical ingredients off the shelf.

Biomay thereby addresses companies and academic allergists requiring recombinant allergens for commercial or investigator-driven clinical trials. The material, which is a surplus of own clinical trials, is manufactured andquality-released by Biomay. It is going to be shipped to clients in a frozen state on dry ice, with a temperature logger. By considering the client´s individual needs, the shipment can be accompanied with the respective certificates of analysis and compliance, stability documentation and technical reports.

“We are convinced there is a market for short-term available GMP allergens. Thisbusiness segment will enable us to offer pharmaceutical-grade material at a significantly lower price  compared to common contract manufactured products,” states Dr. Ursula Baumgartner-Durchschlag, Quality Manager and Qualified Person at Biomay. “With our proven expertise in allergen production and our stringent quality policy, we will further position ourselves as a first address for highly pure allergens in GMP quality.”

Bet v 1.0101 – the major birch pollen allergen – is the first offered GMP product. With Bet v 1, Biomay was the first company worldwide to clone and produce a recombinant pollen allergen. More than ever, recombinant Bet v 1 is of commercial and scientific interest in allergy research. This year, Biomay will add further products to the list of GMP allergens ready for immediate shipment. Prices will be disclosed on request.
