Biomay offers a variety of pre-made starting plasmids for the packaging of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) as gene transfer vectors.
For packaging rAAV vectors in HEK293 cell culture, a typical co-transfection set consists of three plasmids:
- an adenovirus helper plasmid (Ad helper for packaging)
- a Rep/Cap plasmid (defining the AAV replication and capsid serotype)
- a transgene plasmid (containing the gene of interest)
Biomay’s Ad helper plasmid pBM-AV-Helper has been designed to focus on the essential Ad elements. With a minimized size of only 11 kbp, an optimized transfection rates is ensured.
The tissue specificity and organ targeting of an rAAV vector is defined by its capsid serotype. Biomay offers a variety of plasmids coding for different Rep/Cap serotypes which are clinically significant.
Transgene plasmids with the individual genes of interest are usually custom made. Biomay offers an AAV reporter plasmid encoding eGFP (pBM-AAVeGFP) for testing and optimization of rAAV systems.
