Biomay’s Cas9 – with the internal product code “BMC9” – is based on the classical wild-type Cas9 nuclease from Streptococcus pyogenes. The Cas9 manufacturing process has been de novo developed, PPQ-validated and GMP-implemented by Biomay. GMP and RUO manufacturing follow a validated process, and consists of fermentation with E. coli and chromatographic purification. Quality control is performed with a comprehensive set of validated analytical assays. Biomay’s Cas9 shows excellent purity and cutting efficiency (potency).
The concept of off-the-shelf distributed Cas9 in combination with the Biomay’s made-to-order services (client specific Cas9 batches) will guarantee the full scalability and GMP compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

In the specific area of hemoglobinopathies, Cas9 obtained from Biomay must not be used for preclinical or clinical trials (Phases I, II or III), nor for any commercial applications. Clients are required to acknowledge and accept these specific terms related to Biomay’s Cas9 with the acquisition of the material.
